Stacey Yates

Club Director and Founder

Stacey moved to Colorado in 2013 and quickly fell in love with the active and relaxed way of life. The climate is pretty perfect also! Her interest in volleyball started at a young age watching her parents play. After a successful high school volleyball career and many years of playing in various leagues she began coaching in 2014.  Over the past 10 years she has coached club teams ranging from 12's - 18's and coached at two local high schools. After the club she joined in 2014 shut down she decided to continue her passion for training young players through what we now call Prime Volleyball Academy. Stacey can be found in gym almost every day checking in on coaches and players. Making sure they have everything they need to be successful is on the top of her priority list. She knows that Prime will continue to grow and support the young volleyball players in the North Denver suburbs for years to come.

Ed Erikson

*Retired*

Coach Development and Backup Coach

Ed has been involved in volleyball for 41 years, playing since he was 7 years old. He played club and high school volleyball and was the setter for USCB. As for coaching, he has coached club, junior high, and has been a consultant for UCSB. Ed chose Prime because Prime is the club that sees what a player has to contribute to their team and not to the sidelines.

Charlotte Franson

18 Black Head Coach

Charlotte has loved and played the sport of volleyball since the 7th grade! Which make that 35 + years! She continues to play competitively as a setter on two adult leagues currently. She has coached now for over 10 years at different levels including many years at a local charter school and 7 years of club all between the ages of 15's to 17's. Most recently, she has had the honor of coaching 15's Black at Prime and watched her team accomplish moving up the ranks from 58th out of 60 teams to 22nd place by the end of the season including the opportunity to play in a Division 1 power which was super fun! Charlotte coaches because she believes for young women of this age group, you can learn very valuable life skills while also learning some great volleyball skills. Teamwork, grit and hard work can help you grow as a player and a person and persevering through a long season as a team builds character and teaches you lessons that you will need very early in their adult life. Charlotte loves coaching at Prime because of all the elements involved. As coaches, we collaborate together on a weekly basis to do what is best for our players. As trainers of the sport, we work with our partners at UNITE to build healthy bodies for all of our athletes and as an organization, we provide a second home and a safe place whenever it is needed during the challenging life of a young adult. She can't wait to coach the 17 National team next season!

CJ Kenchel

17 Gold Head Coach

With over 18 years of experience playing volleyball, my passion for this sport has only grown. Now redirected into fostering the same passion into youth athletes, my goal as a coach is to create a determination in each individual to perfect their skills, build their mindset, and maintain a joy in playing volleyball that is unmatched. All so they may take a well-rounded resolve with them through any part of life and possibly their own future volleyball careers.

Michelle Nelson

17 Gold Assistant Coach

I started playing club volleyball around the age of 15, continuing on for several years. Although my first love was softball, I quickly discovered a passion for the techniques and strategy of the game which allowed me to be a versatile player. Now later in life, that same approach to volleyball has given me the ability to analyze the game from the coaching perspective.

Several years ago, I was given the opportunity to coach club volleyball for two years at Set Spike Sports. Unfortunately, I had to make the difficult decision to leave coaching for a time while I focused on my career goals. Now that I have accomplished those goals, I am returning to coaching.

My coaching method is to encourage players to take pride and ownership in their strengths AND weaknesses. When players understand their weaknesses, it gives them the opportunity to take control of their individual improvement, leading them to be an overall better player and teammate. When a player understands their strengths, they can be confident in their abilities, contributing to their team’s success.

In high school, Taylor was a three-year starter for the varsity team at Prairie Ridge High School out of Crystal Lake, IL. During her campaign, she garnered first-team all-area and all-state honorable mention honors with the Northwest Herald, team captain, and team MVP. She led her team to a regional title in her senior year.

Out of club volleyball, she signed to play at D1 Oakland University out of Rochester, MI as a six-rotation outside hitter for head coach Rob Beam. During her time with the Golden Grizzlies, Taylor played as a four-year starter (3 years six rotation OH, senior year Libero) in 110 matches gathering 686 kills, 1548 digs, and 123 aces. She played in both the Summit League (2011-2012) and the Horizon League (2013-2014) ending her playing career with a Horizon League championship title and first NCAA berth for the university’s volleyball program in the D1 Era.

Taylor has received the 2014 Defensive Player of the Year and became Oakland’s first-ever ACCA honoree, earning All-North Region Honorable Mention. Tammy Jackson

15 Gold Assistant Coach

12 Black Assistant Coach

Growing up I was a multi sport athlete. I played volleyball, basketball, soccer and ran track. I absolutely fell in love with volleyball!!

I haved coached volleyball for 8 years. 5 years as the head coach of a Jr high program, 2 years as a high school coach, both years as head JV coach and Varsity assistant and 1 year at Prime.

I am super passionate about coaching. To watching players come into practice on that first day and be completely overwhelmed to watching them grow and develop not only on the court but as human beings also is just amazing. Whether it's overcoming skill obstacles or life challenges. Being able to guide and support young athletes through this phase of their journey is a great honor.

Alejandro Arzaga

As part of Prime, has worked hard to create a friendly and engaging learning environment and support our mission to create over performing volleyball athletes. With the support of his two dogs and husband he will continue to lead and teach these young adults.

Anna Herrick

15 White Assistant Coach

Hi! I'm coach Anna. I've been coaching for roughly 4 years now. I started off as head coach for the Gold Crown Golden team in fall of 2021. After that season was over I didn't know where to go but always drove past Prime on my way home from work every day. So I thought to myself, "you know what? Why not reach out and see what they're all about?" And I'm so glad I did! I was brought on as Charlotte Franson's assistant and learned so much! I got to be a part of an amazing group of girls that kept me on my toes and made me proud every day.

I'm definitely looking forward to the next season!

When I'm not coaching, I play volleyball on Tuesday evenings with my team "Bumps, Blocks, Battlestar Galactica" (for those who don't know that's a reference from The Office" ) or I'm at home with my husband, three dogs, and roughly 75 fish. I also love reading, plants, movies, and binging shows from time to time. For my every day job, I work with Alzheimer's and memory care patients.

Maggie Walker

She played throughout her middle and high school years mainly as a six-rotation player and right-side hitter. Aside from school volleyball, Maggie also played on her club team, as both a right-side hitter and a setter. This will be her first-year coaching club volleyball! She cannot wait to introduce the players to the sport and begin to help players grow, both on and off the court!

Emma Wood

14 Gold Head Coach

In the 10+ years I've played volleyball, the sport has kept me grounded, guided me to wonderful people, and now has given me the opportunity to coach athletes into nurturing a lifelong love of the game. I have experience teaching 5th-8th grade in the classroom and coaching middle school debate, basketball, soccer, and volleyball.

I'm beyond excited to share my passion with my players on the 14 Gold team. It's going to be a great season!
